Notre Dame School Vettikuzhy, is situated in Trichur district, Kerala against a back drop of mountains and splendid greenery. The quiet and breathtaking natural surroundings in and around the school create the best learning atmosphere.
Notre Dame School Vettikuzhy traces its origin to September 8th 1999, when Srs. Karuna and Daisy began their ministry in Chaippankuzhy parish, Trichur. The sisters were housed in Mr. Joy Payyappilly’s home to begin their apostolate as they did not yet have a convent home. Through the frequent pastoral visits they were convinced of the need of the locality- an English Medium School. The nearest one was 18 Kms away from Chaippankuzhy. Sr. Mary Anima the Provincial Superior missioned the sisters there to begin the LKG classes, Sr. Karuna to be the first Headmistress. The first classes were conducted in a rented room adjacent to the church from June 18th, with 38 tiny tots, full of life.
In the history of Notre Dame School Vettikuzhy , Nov 13th 2002 etched a new chapter as the new school building was blessed and inaugurated.
As the years passed there was great increase in the number of students and staff. Mrs. Sibi Josi was the first teacher. The principals who succeeded; Sr. M. Lata and Sr. M. Alpana, the sisters and the staff from the very inception of the school worked untiringly to bring up the best standards in the school in rural Kerala. Through various programmes for the staff, celebrations, competition and other activities, Notre Dame Vettikuzhy gained name, style and traditions in a very short period of time. The Vision and Mission statements, the school logo, the school song, smart school uniform, all were in place at the right time. From 2006 to 2012 the school saw new additions like the administrative block, an enchanting Kids’ Park, spacious classrooms, vast playgrounds, well-equipped laboratories, well furnished library, computerized offices, music rooms and all sorts of sports and games facilities.
With a “Motto of the School LEAD ME FROM DARKNESS TO LIGHT” Notre Dame School aims to provide all- round development to the students by offering opportunities to develop multiple intelligence through various co-curricular activities and clubs. The school also provides extra –curricular activities enabling the all round development of the students through sports, talent search, cultural activities, dance and music.
Now Notre Dame Vettikuzhy is a full-fledged Secondary School affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi. It continues to inspire, hone, enrich and equip her students to face the challenges of the Society, upholding the values of brotherhood, truthfulness and justice.
