NOTRE DAME ACADEMY POCHAMPALLI
St. Julie’s Day Celebration
On 12th July 2024, we celebrated the Feast of St. Julie Billiart. St. Julie Billiart is the Spiritual Mother of the Sisters of Notre Dame. Her call to found a religious institute was confirmed through visions and a desire that God wanted her congregation to have a worldwide mission. She reminds us always to keep our eyes turned toward God.
We started the day with real zeal and enthusiasm. We were very eager to celebrate the birthday of St. Julie Billiart. We started the program with prayer service. We were sharing our happiness with wishes and sharing gifts to our lovable Sisters, staff and students on that special day. A skit was enacted by our students to showcase the life of St. Julie Billiard in a great manner. Their performance was fabulous in a realistic manner. Acting in the spirit of St. Julie Billiart who proclaimed, “You are not asked to do all the good in the world, just that bit which lies within your power,” Notre Dame Academy students revealed that initiated Women Helping Women.
The words of St. Julie Billiart as “Whatever we are doing, we should often ask ourselves: ‘How would Jesus have done this?” ” The beauties of nature must lift your soul to your Creator. You will look upon them spread before you like an open book” In Julie Billiard’s young age her favorite game was playing “school” and when she became older, she made her favorite game into her job and taught for real. “She carried on this mission of teaching throughout her life, and the Congregation she founded continues her work.” As she said our beloved Principal Sister Abhilasha gave a wonderful speech to commemorate the goodness of St. Julie Billiart and her life to children. We enjoyed the day ” Like a sunflower how it turns it’s face towards sun, we were keeping the goal towards the words of St. Julie Billiart “. “Sharing the lunch” with all the sisters was a wonderful way to build a connection between the student body and the heritage of the sisters in a casual setting. It was an unforgettable day in Notre Dame Academy Pochampalli on celebrating the Feast of St.JulieBilliart on the 75th year of the congregation of the Sisters of Notre Dame in India.
