Healing Minds, Strengthening Hearts – a Mental Wellness Seminar
As part of our on-going celebrations of our 175 Anniversary of the foundation of the Congregation of the Sisters of Notre Dame, seminars were organized for our spiritual well-being and strengthening of our
mental health.
On May 24th n 25th, the Visitation Province, Bangalore conducted the seminar on Mental Health and Spiritual wellbeing for all the Sisters. The resource persons were Sr. Dr. Joan Chunakapura MMS and Fr. Joy SDB
A Special word of gratitude to Sr. Mary Chetana, Provincial Superior and team for arranging this seminar at this time which was very useful and helpful for all of us who attended it.
This seminar was very informative and we gained a lot of insight for our lives as consecrated religious persons. Many topics were covered and discussed during this seminar. Main focus was on Self -Esteem, keeping oneself always positive, in spite of challenges, struggles, misunderstanding, failure and sickness, feeling that we are being loved, loveable, living and working together to keep
oneself heathy and to adopt a controlled diet, exercise frequently and to pray unceasingly.
I was taken up by the causes that affect our mental health. Some of the things like physical illness, financial problems, poor stress management, unhealthy lifestyles and lack of spirituality also can affect our lives and we need to be well aware of them in our lives.
During the sessions Sister talked about Midlife crisis, Midlife is like a second world war. When I’m faced with problems how I can tackle and manage them. Constantly I need to become aware of my feelings and emotions.
Likewise, many activities of sharing in groups and reflections alone were conducted and it was an interactive session. I got many insights and information through this seminar.
We are grateful to Sr. Mary Chetana and the entire Provincial house community.
