CELEBRATING EMPOWERMENT: TRANSFORMING LIVES IN CHOODASANDRA
Working with women and working for women among the weaker sections of society is challenging, yet it provides an opportunity to understand the struggles and pains they face in their family and society. Since June 2023, Sr. Mary Jaisheela, have commenced her work in this field. After visiting various villages and slums to identify the possibilities and needs of the area she discovered that many of them are engaged in domestic work, and a significant number are construction workers. Given this new beginning, she decided to start by focusing on the domestic workers. Over the course of three months, she successfully formed three Self-Help Groups (SHG) in three villages, namely Rayasandra, Choodasandra, and K.R.Nagar. Each group consists of 15 to 20 women who hold regular meetings twice a month, where along with Sister, women discuss about Microfinance and awareness sessions are arranged for them. The women are highly motivated to learn and become self-reliant.Women Centre was inaugurated bySr. Mary Chetana, the Provincial Superior of Visitation Province. It was blessed by Rev Fr. Prasad MSC, on 8thNovember, 2023.
