Province Assembly
The provincial Team had been planning months in advance for the province assembly. The assembly which was held from 23rd to 25th April saw the gathering of all senior professed sisters. The theme of the assembly focused on the salient features and blessings of inter- cultural living. We began the assembly with the morning prayer followed by Holy Mass officiated by Bishop Emeritus Bernard Moras, who in his inspiring homily spoke of the need to be mindful about going beyond our differences in our culture, creed, language and the need to adapt the DNA of Christ to live as true Christian human beings. The different sessions of the province-assembly took place as per the schedule under the able guidance of the facilitator, Sister Sreeja, the Assistant General of our Congregation and the Provincial Team led by Sr. Sandhya, the Provincial. The input given by Sr. Sreeja focused on the true nature of our living in community and the importance of forming life-giving partnership; thinking globally and discerning collectively. The meaningful Holy Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Jerome Stanislaus D’Souza SJ, the provincial of Jesuits in Karnataka, on the 24th, added grace and blessings to the occasion. In his homily he mainly focused on inter- culturality and enlightened us about the ‘Ignatian Spiritual Conversation’: listening, which is attentional, and speaking, which is intentional. A separate session was organized for the local superiors to enlighten them on community animation and strengthening of community bonds by Fr. Stanislaus, Sister Sreeja and Sister Sandhya. On the last day of the gathering, Sister Sreeja guided the members through a solemn and holy process to surface names of potential candidates for provincial leadership. At the end of the day Sr. Sreeja and all the sisters who worked behind the scene to make the Province Days possible and successful were thanked for their generosity.
